Choosing Asian or Vegan Food in Central London

Define the group's requirements

Asian cuisine and vegan food are separate search criteria. Decide whether you need a particular cuisine, an entirely plant-based restaurant or simply several suitable dishes. Collect each guest's dietary needs before choosing a venue for a mixed group.

Two options to compare are Wagamama’s pan-Asian menu ↗, which provides vegan and vegetarian filters, and the fully vegan restaurants Mildreds ↗. Mildreds serves an international menu, so do not assume every dish is Asian. Check the actual food and a convenient location.

Check the complete dish

Vegetables or tofu in a dish name do not establish that it is vegan. Check the stock, sauces, accompaniments and optional additions. Vegan and vegetarian labels have different meanings; communicate requests to exclude egg or dairy explicitly.

Allergies require a separate discussion even in a fully plant-based restaurant. Nuts, sesame, soya and other allergens may feature in recipes. Tell a member of staff, consult the current allergen information and ask about cross-contact. A vegan symbol is not an assurance that food is safe for someone with an allergy.

Choose suitable seating

Check the address, kitchen hours and availability for your party size. Ask in advance if you need a quieter conversation, a separate table or space for mobility equipment. Cuisine does not determine the seating arrangement or noise level.

Before theatre, allow time for waiting, preparation and payment. Larger groups should ask whether diners can order individually, whether a set menu is required and how long the table is allocated.

Compare a realistic bill

Build a sample order including a main, any side, a drink and an optional dessert. Add service charge according to the restaurant's terms. A lunch deal may only apply at specified times and should not be used to estimate an evening meal.

Use the official menu for the chosen branch rather than an old photograph. If there are too few suitable dishes, change the restaurant before booking instead of relying on the kitchen to substantially alter a recipe on arrival.
