Choose the purpose

A one-off candle workshop suits trying a craft or spending time with friends. Producing candles for sale requires additional knowledge about testing, labelling and safety rules. An entertainment workshop is not professional certification.

Ask whether you will blend scents and pour wax yourself or mainly watch a demonstration. Check duration, participant numbers and how many products are included. “Create your own scent” may mean choosing among prepared blends.

A London starting point

Earl of East ↗ publishes London workshops and private options. Use official booking for current dates and read the workshop FAQ ↗. A brand may have several venues: its shop is not necessarily the location of your session.

When comparing studios, verify the address, programme and contracting organiser. Look for feedback on teaching and organisation as well as attractive interiors. For a group, establish whether you can book places together in a regular session or need a private event.

Comfort and collection

Ask which wax, fragrances and containers are used, how scented the room is and whether fragrance-free participation is possible. Discuss sensitivities before payment. Check age, accessibility and arrangements for handling hot wax safely.

The finished candle may need cooling or curing. Establish whether you can take it immediately, must return, or can arrange delivery, and whether packaging is included. Follow the organiser’s instructions on when it is ready to burn rather than planning to light it immediately.

Fees, cancellation and gifts

Compare candle size and quantity, materials, refreshments, packaging, delivery and extra products. Check rescheduling, late cancellation and late-arrival rules. A gift voucher needs a clear expiry, date availability and information about additional payments.

Keep the confirmation and product instructions. Afterwards, decide whether you want more detailed training rather than purchasing extensive equipment because one evening was enjoyable. Obtain a separate, clear safe-working method before making candles independently.
