Choosing a London escape room for your group

Ask about experience, language, tolerance of scares and physical tasks. A detective puzzle, actor-led horror and competitive team challenge create different evenings. Difficulty alone is a poor guide; beginners need clear briefing and useful hints.
Check recommended and maximum players. More people in one room can leave some merely watching. For two rooms, establish simultaneous starts and comparable scoring.
Questions for the venue
clueQuest publishes game FAQs ↗ and attendance terms ↗. With any provider, check briefing and text language, hints, playing time and the total visit including preparation.
Ask about stairs, confined spaces, flashing lights, loud sound and leaving early. “Family-friendly” does not describe every access need. Age advice and compulsory adult supervision can differ.
Total cost
Compare the whole team's price at your actual group size. “From” pricing may assume maximum players or weekday attendance. Establish minimum paid places, adding players and reducing numbers.
Check deposits, cancellation and lateness. An absent player does not automatically generate a refund. Party space, food and photographs may cost extra; choose deliberately.
On the day
Arrive for the briefing rather than only the game start. Avoid a risky tight transport connection. Share observations aloud so one silent problem-solver does not dominate the experience.
Follow safety instructions, avoid forcing props and report discomfort. Requesting a hint does not make the visit unsuccessful. A nearby café afterwards can provide time to discuss the game without rushing.
