Discuss the desired change, previous products, operations, allergies and conditions. Request realistic expectations about shape and limitations. Purchasing a particular volume cannot replace anatomical assessment.
Identify the practitioner, qualifications, experience in the proposed area and insurance. Check professional registration if they are a clinician. Voluntary aesthetic membership differs from statutory medical registration.
Product and complication plan
Ask for product name, manufacturer, sourcing and batch records. NHS describes serious filler complications ↗, including infection and vision damage. This is not a routine service without clinical risk.
Ask who identifies vascular complications, how quickly help is available and what clinical plan applies. A promise to dissolve everything cannot guarantee reversal of every injury or replace prompt intervention.
Check the setting
CQC explains that it does not regulate every cosmetic treatment ↗. A clinic logo does not automatically establish oversight of these injections. Ask about registration and permissions relevant to the actual activity and premises.
Take time to decide. Immediate-payment discounts, party treatments and absent follow-up contacts justify stopping. Consultation can lead to less treatment or no treatment.
Cost and warning signs
Compare consultation, product, injection, review and paid correction. Ask when swelling can be assessed rather than expecting the final shape immediately. Obtain written instructions.
Unusually severe pain, skin-colour changes or visual symptoms require urgent clinical help. Sudden vision disturbance needs emergency assessment. Do not wait for a routine top-up or attempt to inject corrective products yourself. Keep the product details available for clinicians.
