Can I board National Express at an intermediate stop?

A coach calling at a convenient stop does not automatically allow you to use a ticket booked from somewhere else. Under National Express's Conditions of Carriage ↗, you must board at the point stated on the ticket. If you do not appear at the booked location, the operator may treat you as having missed the service and release your seat.
Consequently, buying from Victoria and joining later along the route requires an amendment or explicit confirmation beforehand. The driver at an intermediate stop is not obliged to preserve your seat merely because that stop appears in the timetable.
Check the exact departure
Open the booking and note its date, time, service number, stop name and address. Compare these with your intended route: different departures serving the same destination may call at different stops. Check the direction and platform separately. Airports and major interchanges can have similarly named stops in different locations.
If the coach ticket was sold within an airline booking or through an intermediary, establish who controls that ticket. Do not assume that changing your flight automatically updates the coach section.
Amend before travelling
Contact the retailer or National Express support with the booking reference and precise replacement boarding point. Ask whether the change is possible, what fare difference or fee applies, and whether a seat is confirmed. Keep the updated ticket. An informal suggestion that drivers usually allow it is insufficient for an important connection.
If an amendment is unavailable or that stop cannot be booked on the service, use the original boarding point or obtain a different ticket. Compare the total cost, including travel to the coach stop: a cheap coach may become expensive once an extra taxi is included.
On departure day
National Express requires passengers to be at the stop at least ten minutes before departure. Allow additional time to find the platform if the location is unfamiliar. Have your ticket and bags ready to board. The coach is not obliged to wait for a late passenger.
If you miss the departure, ask the operator about available options immediately. Joining a later service depends on the ticket and seat availability. Do not travel independently to the next stop hoping to intercept the coach: first obtain confirmation that boarding there is permitted.
