Can I refund, change or give someone else my Eurostar ticket?

Identify the fare and retailer

Open your ticket and note the class, date, booking reference and retailer. Voluntary cancellation, a train cancelled by Eurostar and correcting a spelling error are different situations. If a visa is pending, check the amendment deadline early: lacking a visa does not automatically make a non-refundable fare refundable.

Keep the original ticket and records of earlier changes. An amendment close to departure can affect later refund eligibility.

Changing Standard and Plus

Under Eurostar's current fare conditions for London routes ↗, Standard and Plus dates or times can be changed without an exchange fee up to one hour before the original departure. You must pay any increase in fare; a decrease is not refunded. An exchange cannot change the destination.

Check the final amount before confirming. A fee-free exchange means there is no amendment charge, not that every replacement ticket costs nothing.

Refunds and an important restriction

Standard and Plus refunds are available at least seven days before departure, subject to a £25 fee per passenger for each journey leg. A ticket exchanged to a later departure less than seven days before departure becomes non-refundable. Moving it again to a much later date does not restore refund eligibility.

Premier is more flexible: the current rules allow fee-free exchanges and refunds up to 48 hours after the original departure. For groups, special offers and older tickets, verify the terms of your own purchase rather than applying another fare's conditions.

Giving the ticket to someone else

Eurostar's Conditions of Carriage ↗ restrict a named ticket to the named passenger and prohibit unauthorised resale. Forwarding the PDF does not make another person the legitimate passenger. Discuss a genuine spelling error with the operator; correcting it is a separate issue from substituting a traveller.
