Booking a Schengen visa appointment from the UK

Find the official booking channel

Start on the consulate website for your main destination and follow its link to the appointed provider. Countries use different companies and booking systems. France's current UK application page ↗, for example, directs applicants to TLScontact. A familiar company name alone does not prove that a particular website or account is genuine.

Register with your own email address and telephone number. Keep your password, application reference and registration confirmation. This lets you receive requests and manage the appointment yourself.

Check the queue and visa category

You may not simply be able to open a calendar and choose an appointment. The German Embassy in the UK ↗ introduced waiting lists for several categories from June 2026. The applicable process depends on the category and centre; it is not a universal rule for all applications.

Select the correct purpose, city, passport details and applicants. Check whether the application form must already be completed. If an allocated appointment has a payment or confirmation deadline, meet it: the published German process specifies 24 hours. Incorrect personal details can cause you to lose the booking.

If no appointments are available

Check which centres you are allowed to use and their territorial responsibility. France allows UK residents to choose between its three centres, for example; another country may operate differently. Follow official announcements and any instructions for rejoining a waiting list.

For a documented urgent situation, use the official contact channel and provide supporting evidence. A last-minute holiday does not itself guarantee an exception. Walk-in submission is possible only where expressly permitted for your category: opening hours for collecting passports without an appointment are not an invitation to lodge a new application.

Understand fees and intermediary risks

Separate the consular fee, compulsory provider fee and optional services. A premium lounge, delivery or form assistance does not itself guarantee approval or faster processing.

Check your confirmation before attending

Keep the booking notification, payment receipt and current checklist. Verify your name, passport, category, location and appointment time. Prepare documents early: visa processing starts after submission, not when you first begin searching for a slot. If there is insufficient time before departure, changing travel dates is generally more realistic than buying an intermediary's promises.
