Check whether you already have an account

An eVisa is a digital record of your identity, immigration status and its conditions. You access it through a UKVI account. Creating an account does not itself grant or extend permission to live in the UK. The official guidance explains eVisas ↗.

First try signing in through the View your eVisa link on GOV.UK. You may already have an account if you used UK Immigration: ID Check, applied to the EU Settlement Scheme or replaced a physical immigration document with an eVisa. UKVI explicitly says not to create another account ↗ if one already exists. Find your registration emails and the details used for your original application.

Prepare the account information

You need an email address and phone number that you can access for future sign-ins. The official instructions list accepted document combinations, such as a valid passport with your application's GWF/UAN or BRP number. Using an expired BRP for this process is time-limited; check the current dates on the account setup page ↗ before starting.

The service then asks you to confirm your identity and link the account to your eVisa. The app needs a compatible smartphone; another identification method is provided if you cannot access a smartphone, have no suitable document or cannot use the app. Follow the route offered by the official service instead of purchasing supposedly compulsory intermediary assistance.

Complete the link and check the record

Account creation and linking the eVisa are separate stages. After registration, return to the linking task if it remains unfinished. Then sign into the status viewing service ↗ and check your name, date of birth, permission type, expiry and conditions. Keep evidence that the process is complete and record the identifier used to sign in.

Use Report an error if existing details were wrong; use Update your details if your passport or address subsequently changed. Creating another account does not correct an erroneous immigration status. Do not post account screenshots or sign-in codes in public groups.

Family members and future use

A dependant partner and each dependant child need their own UKVI accounts. A parent can manage a child's account under the official rules; contact details should be changed to the account holder's when they turn 18 or become able to manage it independently. The UKVI guidance explains this ↗.

Check access before job applications, renting or travel. Status is shared using a code for the appropriate purpose; travel requires a valid passport added to the account. If you cannot sign in, start with the account-recovery link in the official guidance and keep a record of the error and your support request.
