Your passport determines the visa requirement

Start with ICA's visa check ↗. If your travel document is on the visa-required list, UK residence alone does not remove the requirement. Visa-exempt travellers must still meet the other entry conditions.

Distinguish travel permission from permitted stay: the Visit Pass issued on arrival determines the latter, rather than the visa's validity period.

Use the authorised UK application route

The Singapore High Commission in London ↗ appoints VFS as an authorised visa agent; ordinary submissions are no longer accepted at the mission's premises. Follow its official link for appointments.

Singapore's foreign ministry ↗ also describes applications through an eligible local contact with Singpass. This is a separate official mechanism; an acquaintance without the necessary status and access is not automatically a visa agent.

Prepare the package for your purpose

The VFS UK checklist ↗ covers Form 14A, a photograph, passport, UK residence evidence, accommodation, transport and evidence of purpose. For a private stay, check the Letter of Introduction and host evidence. Children need additional documents.

Cross-check entry requirements with ICA: foreign passports generally need at least six months' validity on arrival. If a local checklist gives a conflicting figure, clarify it with the provider and follow the current border authority's requirement. An old list referring to plastic BRPs also needs clarification on acceptable digital UK status evidence.

Submit the Arrival Card separately

The SG Arrival Card ↗ is free and submitted within three days, including arrival day. It is not a visa or a replacement visa application. For an ordinary visitor clearing immigration, it is a separate step in preparing the journey.

Separate visa and VFS charges in your budget; the official arrival card has no fee. The Visa-Free Transit Facility applies only when its specific conditions are met: UK residence does not universally provide 96 hours in the city. Before departure, check visa approval, passport and evidence of onward travel.
